| 2001 Westside Shalom Zone
Spirit of the Hills United Methodist Church was one of the partner churches participating in the Westside Shalom Garden, part of the Westside Shalom Initiative. For every hour of work in the
garden, participants received $6.00 worth of produce. Over $2000 worth of fresh vegetables was provided to various agencies such as Shesler Hall, and to the elderly.
What is a Shalom Zone?
A Shalom Zone is a defined geographic area within the community in which churches work toward systemic change by collaborating with community organizations and community residents to develop
economic prosperity; coordinating community resources; empowering community leaders and residents to plan for their community's future; and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.
